It has long been known that no exhaustive and authoritative reference book existed to which laymen, high school and college students, reporters, writers, and specialists in other fields could refer for information on mental health and illness. Professionals in this field are well aware of the avidity with which the public seeks information which it rarely obtains from reliable sources.
At last a distinguished group of authorities chosen by the late Mr. Albert Deutsch has now produced the long-needed material compiled in six volumes. The language used is clear and easily understandable, yet the material is authentic. Each subheading is easily found through an adequate index referring to headings which can be found at a glance.
Franklin Watts, Inc., is to be congratulated for the undertaking done so very well. Psychiatrists should be grateful to have such an adequate resource for referral.
