ABSTRACT

I risk the immodesty of reviewing a book to which I have contributed because I think that since it contains so much of value about a topical subject, it deserves the immediate attention of workers in the mental health field. The book contains papers by 29 contributors to the scientific dedicatory exercises held at the opening of the Mount Sinai Institute of Psychiatry in New York. At this meeting each paper was presented in summarized form by the author and discussions by a panel of experts in each field followed. This volume contains the original papers and their carefully edited discussions.

The contributors were chosen by Dr. Kaufman with great care and all are leaders in their particular approaches to the field. There are six sections: (1) the setting and its personnel; (2) the patient; (3) therapeutic programs; (4) training and education programs; (5) research; and (6) impact. The contributors
