To the Editor.—  While reviewing an article published in the January 1988 issue of the Archives,1 we noted a minor omission in one of the tables.In the text on page 35, we noted that "the SD of tidal volume was also significantly higher for the patients than the controls...." However, in Table 4 this is given as "Tidal volume" instead of "SD of tidal volume." The correct values are 243.6 ±137.3 and 150.1 ±68.1 (not 6.81). The t and P values are as stated.The actual mean baseline tidal volumes of the patient and control groups were 423.6 mL and 340.7 mL, respectively. This is a nonsignificant difference consistent with the statement in the text on page 36 that "... neither group was hyperventilating in the canopy during the initial phase of the experiment."We regret missing the mislabeling of the table and the incorrect placement of the
