The Canadian treatment guidelines they cited1 did not conclude that CBT was ineffective for bipolar disorder. In fact, the guidelines cite several single-center studies that found positive evidence for CBT in relapse prevention2- 3 and 1 multicenter trial that observed prophylaxis, although only among patients with fewer than 12 prior episodes.4
