RT Journal A1 Swett C, Jr. T1 Drowsiness due to chlorpromazine in relation to cigarette smoking: A report from the boston collaborative drug surveillance program JF Archives of General Psychiatry JO Archives of General Psychiatry YR 1974 FD August 1 VO 31 IS 2 SP 211 OP 213 DO 10.1001/archpsyc.1974.01760140063010 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archpsyc.1974.01760140063010 AB The frequency of drowsiness attributed to orally administered chlorpromazine hydrochloride was compared among 130 nonsmokers and 201 "light" and 72 "heavy" cigarette smokers. Drowsiness occurred in 16%, 11%, and 3%, respectively. More rapid metabolism of chlorpromazine in cigarette smokers may explain these findings.
