As the next century—indeed, the new millennium—begins, we asked several leaders in psychiatry for their prediction of what psychiatric practice will look like 100 years from now on December 31, 2099. In our charge to the authors we told them we had no particular stake in their views and suggested they could be "optimistic or Orwellian." We also asked them whether psychiatry would even exist. Both to ensure that their pieces reflect their own views and to diminish censored thought and inhibited writing, we told our panel that their article would not be peer-reviewed. Here are our authors' perspectives on psychiatric practice in the new millennium. SN - 0003-990X M3 - doi: 10.1001/archpsyc.56.12.1151 UR - http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archpsyc.56.12.1151 ER -
