Each paper deals with one aspect of a community health program with specific reference to existing catchment areas. The approach is, in general, a pragmatic one and there are no references to theory or questions raised of epidemiology, success of treatment or prognosis of mental disorders in a program thus designed. Problems that have arisen in some units are presented with some solutions. Even though the papers deal with specific problems and examples are frequently used, the presentations are more or less superficial and offer little in depth studies that could be of value to the psychiatrist in developing a program. However, since community psychiatry is a relatively new concept in Great Britain and the US, the material presented adds some depth to the data supporting existing concepts. The first paper deals with psychiatric nursing in the SN - 0003-990X M3 - doi: 10.1001/archpsyc.1969.01740170116023 UR - http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/archpsyc.1969.01740170116023 ER -
