N2  - The author of the dust cover of this book seems to have had a more ambitious undertaking in mind than the author when he says, "This volume brings together in a single comprehensive view all of the major aspects of emergency psychiatric treatment," and "Emergency psychiatric technique requires a synthesis of all treatment methods in psychiatry in the most flexible and practical manner. The approach to this challenging technical problem is described in detail."In contrast to the above the author acknowledges that, "Cookbooks are never new or exciting. But cookbooks are often necessary. . . ." His impression is that the book is to be a "survey" and "guide."This book suffers because substance has been sacrificed for brevity.
