Under the pioneering leadership of Lewis R. Wolberg, MD, its Medical Director and Dean, the Center offers additional training to psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatric social workers, provides therapeutic services for the community, pursues numerous research projects, and provides training for other helpers in the community. In both individual and group psychotherapy, its roots are psychoanalytic.Volume one contains 17 papers by ``friends'' of the Center and presents an overview of its scope. Each paper is preceded by a short paragraph which places the author and his paper in perspective. The papers are divided into sections on the therapist, the child and adolescent, the family, the group, research, and the community. The emphasis and quality of the papers is uneven.
