Eligibility for the study is determined by the presence of a minimum 6-month period of drugfree urine samples, no legal problems, employment or filling a homemaker or student role, and a good record for treatment compliance. Most of the subjects in this study have had such records extending over many years.In the course of this study, informed consent was obtained from 95 subjects to test for the presence of antibodies to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) on a blind basis.
